DANCE YEAR CONCLUDES:

See the Concert Day Procedures below for arrival times.
All students participate in our End of Year Concert and students work on these routines each week in class, developing their skills in the process and learning the importance of rehearsal, commitment, performance techniques and teamwork.
In terms of attendance, it is very important that students try not miss any of their scheduled classes between now and concert time so they can spend their rehearsal time together to perform their routines, feel confident and look amazing. Of course, this is only if it can’t be helped. If for any reason your child will miss a number of their regular classes in Term 4, we ask that you contact us to let us know in advance.
A concert fee of $160 per student will be payable. There are discounts applied for families with multiple children. We will set this up mid Term 3 to draw via autopay in installments over 10 weeks. We will be in touch when this is due to commence.
The concert fee covers rehearsal participation, provides all families with a copy of the concert video from both shows, contributes to student trophies which all students receive and brand new in 2026 is our ICONIC 2026 concert T-shirt that all students will receive.
Please note: There are no additional fees payable for End of Year costumes are these are already all included in your weekly all-inclusive class fees! Costumes are yours to keep.
VIDEOS
We engage the services of a Professional Videographer. All parents will receive a digital download of both shows included as a part of your concert performers fee. All parents will be emailed with a unique log in which will enable you to view and download the concert videos at home.
Concert videos will be emailed out before Christmas.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We run a photography day which is a great opportunity for students to have professional photos taken in costume.
If you do not intend on purchasing photos, you do not need to attend photography day.
Details on photography day and packages will be made available later this year.
At Beats Dance Studio we understand that the end of year is a busy time for families and as we have scaled back the number of rehearsals students need to attend.
The rehearsals and photography day for our Intermediates, Teens, Seniors and Adults are scheduled for the following dates:
- Saturday 17th October - Studio Rehearsal at our Mayfield West Studio
- Saturday 31st October - Optional Photography Day (held at Maryland Public School Hall)
- Saturday 7th November - Studio Rehearsal at our Mayfield West Studio
Please note these are not full day commitments, and times will be confirmed shortly.
Our Theatre Rehearsals for 2026 will be held on the following dates:
- Tuesday 17th November
- Wednesday 18th November
Please note students will only need to attend one of these afternoons, and for a set block of time.
This is still being worked through and we will update information when it is available.
There are no regular classes concert week in lieu of theatre rehearsals.
The theatre is located on High St at Waratah. No costumes, hair, or makeup are required – treat these like you are attending your regular classes, however, they are at the theatre instead of the studio.
Please wear studio uniform or plain black – this assists with reviewing final preparations on stage when students are in unity with each other.
Please note that no parents are permitted in the theatre or backstage during theatre rehearsals. Please present to the sign-in desk, and our staff will assist with moving students into the theatre.
DROP OFF & PICK UP
On concert day, all of the students will be staying backstage with us for the duration of the concert. Students need to have their hair and makeup done and stockings on before being dropped off. Students are required to arrive 45mins before their show time.
During the dropping off times, we ask that one parent/guardian comes with their child into the drop off area (you will be directed once inside the venue). Students will have their name marked off and be taken backstage by a member of staff.
At the conclusion of the performance, we ask 1 parent or guardian to remain inside the theatre and students will be brought to the stage for collection by age group.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask us. We will ensure that we talk you through the concert day procedure again in the weeks leading up to the concert.
SECURITY & STUDENT SAFETY
As always, the safety of our dance family is our #1 priority. On concert day all students will need to be signed in / out of security lists to gain access backstage. All backstage helpers will be issued with security passes that are required to be worn at all times. Only Beats Dance Studio staff and registered parent helpers are permitted backstage. We are unable to run messages or food to students, so please make sure they have everything before they come backstage for rehearsal and the concert. There will be a someone at the door for the entire day checking passes. We do this to protect the students, please respect this policy. Please try not to bring anything valuable, especially electronic devices. Our studio will take no responsibility if an item is damaged, misplaced, lost or stolen.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS
If your child has any Medical Conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our supervisors when you sign in.
WHAT TO WEAR
Costumes will be handed out in Term 4 and are yours to keep. There are no additional fees payable for End of Year costumes are these are already all included in your weekly all-inclusive class fees!
Please arrive at the theatre in your first costume (Mr Lewis will confirm show order closer to the event and the corresponding costume for ease of reference)
We recommend wearing a Beats uniform over the top for protection while coming to the venue to ensure they do not get dirty.
Please bring all other costumes with you. A plastic tub or washing basket actually makes a great storage option and provides ease of access on concert day.
FINALE
In 2026, all students will wear their ICONIC Concert Tshirt for the finale.
This will help students have their belongings packed up before the finale and enable a prompt exit from the theatre at the conclusion of the show.
SHOES & STOCKINGS
Tap - Camel tap shoes with tan stockings (those who do other styles, we recommend stirrup/convertible style)
Jazz - Black jazz shoes with tan stockings (those who do other styles, we recommend stirrup/convertible style)
Ballet - Ballet shoes with pink ballet stockings
Contemporary - No shoes, stirrup/convertible tan stockings
Cheer - Plain white joggers/runners with white ankle socks (please no flat sole raben/cons style shoes), no stockings required.
Acro - No shoes, no stockings required
Aerial - No shoes, stirrup/convertible tan stockings
Hip Hop - Sneakers
Note: students need to wear tan stockings (flesh coloured) except ballet students who need to wear pink ballet tights or unless noted otherwise above. Stockings are essential for many reasons, but it also provides another layer of protection in case of any onstage costume issues and child protection is paramount to BDS.
We sell concert stockings through the studio, and in 2026 we will be opening a pre-order for this to ensure we have sufficient stock. More information to come.
UNDERWEAR
Please be aware that under stage lights, dark coloured or patterned underwear does not look good under light coloured costumes. Please make sure your child is wearing flesh coloured underwear. In terms of Bras, these can be worn as long as they can't be seen in the costume.
HAIR
Dancers will require a slick low pony for all styles except ballet.
Ballet students - hair to be in a slick low bun. Those who do multiple styles our backstage helpers can assist with hair changes. Please bring a donut bun piece.
You will need to use a lot of hairspray/gel and a fine tooth comb to achieve the slick look. Please also use an elastic the same colour as their hair. Ponytail is to be straight.
Please note, for boys neat and tidy hair is all that is required. No colours or crazy hairstyles please.
MAKEUP
It is important to know that heavy stage make up is required on stage and for Photography due to lighting.
All students (except for boys) to wear stage make up.
- Foundation
- Neutral/dark brown tones for eyeshadow and blush
- Darken the eyes with black eyeliner and mascara. Do not put any large black ticks on side of eyes or glitter on face.
- Darken eyebrows
- Red lipstick
Please note we do not encourage students to share makeup. Please send your child with a makeup kit in case touch-ups are required.
JEWELLERY AND NAIL POLISH
No Jewellery is to be worn (small dimonte studs/thin sleepers only for earrings), please leave all jewellery at home. Also, please remove all nail polish.
WHAT TO BRING
FOOD & DRINK
With our shorter show format, we recommend only bringing a water bottle. If your child requires snacks, please keep these simple to ensure no mess or spills on costumes. Please also be aware there are students at BDS with peanut or gluten allergies, so please ask children not to share food (our helpers will keep eye on this also)
PACKING CHECKLIST
It is suggested that students bring all of their belongings in a small plastic box. It is much easier than rummaging through a bag. Please write their names all over the box and on everything that they bring, every year we have so many pairs of dance shoes and uniforms lost that are never claimed. Please use the following checklist:
Stockings and dance underwear (wear on arrival)
BDS concert tshirt (wear on arrival over the top of costume and for finale)
Shoes
Makeup for touch-ups
Extra bobby pins, safety pins, hair spray, elastics
Water, water and more water
